We offer private tuition at our home, near the centre of Leamington, or Sarah can sometimes come to you on her trusty bicycle! (We drive occasionally if needed.)
Tutoring sessions include regular assessment of your child’s needs, with tasks designed specifically to enable your child to make real progress.
Tuition is currently available from £38 per hour.
We have also developed a small network of tutors who we know very well on a personal level and are happy to recommend. If you need a GCSE Maths tutor, A Level English tutor or we do not have a suitable space for you, we are very happy to share their details with you.
Planning to support your child
We discuss your child’s strengths and areas for development with you from the outset, aiming to get to know what has been successful for your child and things that they have found difficult in their journey through school so far. (If you can bring a recent report, this is also helpful.)
We recognise that despite the excellent efforts of teachers in school, it is not possible to provide the same level of support and differentiation that pupils often crave. We aim to complement their time in school in a way which builds confidence and resilience, and enables your child to develop and to solve problems that they face, to find strategies that work for them, to develop thinking skills and independence so that they are fully equipped not only for exams but also for life. We love to embed what we do in real world scenarios: your child’s passions, interests and aspirations will inform our work with them. On the other hand, we know that children also need to be challenged to move out of their ‘comfort zone’. We aim for the optimum balance between stretching pupils to go further, while avoiding undermining their confidence.
Experienced in Education
Having provided tutoring intermittently since 1996, we have seen the results that can be achieved. GCSE pupils have gained an average of 1-2 grades/ levels higher after personalised intervention, and frequently go ‘up a group’. Sarah trained as a primary teacher and then moved on to teach English at secondary level. Justin has taught from Reception to Year 6 and has also tutored older pupils at times. As well as our experience as teachers, having had our own three children going through education, we have really got to know the challenges and joys of education!
We stay in touch with what is happening in schools, keeping our knowledge of the curriculum and new teaching methods up to date.
Dyslexia and ASD friendly 🙂
We are familiar with a range of strategies to support dyslexia, as well as having a good understanding of autism. We understand that each child is an individual and our aim is to get to know them and their learning needs so as to provide the best possible educational support.
Times:
We can be fairly flexible in terms of times for lessons, including before school sessions for ‘early birds’, weekend sessions, afternoons and evenings. We keep Sunday as a rest day. If you would like to know our current availability do get in touch. We’re also happy to add you to the waiting list if we don’t have a space for you right now.

Individual tutoring prices currently start from £38 per hour if you come to us, or for online lessons. Tutoring at your home incurs a reasonable additional cost to cover travel time (£2-5).
